If you’re yearning for a revolution in your life, I want to be the therapist to help you get there. Whether you’re struggling to manage depression, seeking relief from anxiety, or looking for ways to get past the burdens of grief or trauma, I can help.
As a therapist, I’ll work with you to build new skills and insights, and to develop a more compassionate, joyful relationship with yourself and others. I’m committed to understanding the big picture context of your life—like your culture, workplace, family, and community—so that the skills you build will be immediately practical in your day-to-day experience. We’ll hone your existing strengths while we address the areas you’re struggling.
I’m experienced working with people of color, women, parents, families and folks working in social justice and healing professions. My work uses an anti-oppression lens, and I often work with my clients to address how racism, sexism, homophobia, and other experiences of injustice impact our mental health. I also have specialized training in a variety of modalities for addressing trauma-related problems.
In the words of writer and activist Audre Lorde, “Caring for myself is not self indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political revolution.”
As a child, I saw so much strength and resilience in my community, even in the face of overwhelming injustice. I became passionate about helping to right these most heinous wrongs of social oppression through political and social action. As I grew older I began to understand the impact of oppression on my physical and metal health and realized that the fight for justice needed to begin with my own healing. As I moved through my own healing I realized the revolutionary nature of the therapeutic journey and became committed to supporting others to experience this as well.
I love my work as a therapist because it allows me to co-create a space with clients where radical self-acceptance and self-compassion are cultivated. This is a revolutionary act in a world where being a woman and a person of color often come with the expectation that the self comes last.
In my spare time, I am a body positive cosplayer and cat enthusiast! I enjoy the creativity and imagination involved in creating a cosplay and love transforming myself into my own superhero!
